After Apple mistakenly left a warning on their website that Mac users should install an anti-virus software, downloads of iAntivirus shot up.
Then it was retracted with Apple claiming that it was an old warning that had been misinterpreted. Nevertheless, as the popularity of Mac increases, virus will inevitably emerge for it and it's not a bad idea to have an anti virus package installed.
iAntivirus is a free choice and offers several ways to scan that give fast and superficial or slow and thorough analysis of your system. Although it didn't detect anything dangerous, if it does, it places them in quarantine at once where you can see the infected files and decide what to do with them.
iAntivirus is accessible from the menu bar on your Mac is generally fast and easy to use although it would have been useful to have a breakdown of what viruses it detects and what kind of threat they are.
It's obviously not an essential Mac utility but iAntivirus can offer you basic peace of mind for absolutely nothing at all.
